Technical Procedures

  • Botulinum toxin is a standard treatment for nerve pain, migranes, neck pain, jaw pain, neck pulling, spasticity, fingers or arm muscle tightening with a repeated task (task specific dystonia), nocturnal teeth grinding (bruxism), frequent involuntary eye closure (blepharospasm), hemifacial spasm, Bell’s palsy synkinesis and overactive sweat glands.
  • Botulinum toxin treatment for nerve-related pain including jaw pain (TMD), trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, any other isolated neuralgia, tension headaches, complex regional pain
  • Chemodenervation treatment for migraines and neck pain with botulinum toxin injection. Dr. Nikolskaya helps migraine patients go from nearly daily migraines to none or only a few migraines in 3 months. Treatment is typically done every 3 months.
  • Chemodenervation treatment for neck dystonia (spasmotic torticolis, lateracolis, anterocolis). Dr. Nikolskaya does precise localization of the tight and overactive muscles in the neck that cause abnormal neck postures. The neck injections are done every 3 months and help with abnormal neck postures, dystonic tremor and neck pain.
  • Chemodenervation treatment for spasticity. Dr. Nikolskaya treats post-traumatic brain injury and post stroke spasticity of the arm or leg. Treatment is done every 3 months and helps with usage of the arm and leg by increasing range of motion and decreasing the arm/leg spastic tone.
  • Chemodenervation treatment for hemifacial spasm. Those that have idiopathic contraction of facial muscles (hemifacial spasm) with or without the excessive eye blinking (blepharospasm) get substantial relief with botulinum toxin treatment. Dr. Nikolskaya identifies precise facial and eye muscles to help patients with overactive facial muscle spasms. Post Bells Palsy Facial twitching (Synkinesis) is another condition Dr. Nikolskaya helps her patients with.
  • Electrodiagnostics. Dr. Nikolskaya helps diagnose patients with nerve issues like carpal tunnel, elbow ulnar neuropathy, pinched nerve in the back or neck using EMG (electromyography), NCS (nerve conduction studies). She generates quality reports that help referring physicians guide further management.
  • EEG (electroencephalography). Dr. Nikolskaya interprets EEGs and helps with management of patients with various types of seizures, including absence or other generalized epilepsies, or focal onset seizures. EEG can answer if patient's brain is irritable and at risk to go into another seizure, as some patients can have seizures that are clinically silent. EEG helps show if anti-seizure medications are effective at keeping patients seizure free and localize the area of seizure focus.
  • Botulinum toxin injection for hyper-secretion disorders including excessive salivation (sialorrhea), axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive armpit sweating)
